Oh my.

I was having a chat the other day with some girlfriends about what we would do differently with our weddings if we could go back in time and do it over again. I tried to describe an amazingly unfussy, homemade, low-key sort of event, but couldn't quite get my words to match the images in my head. Then I saw pictures of this wedding and my jaw dropped. This is the sort of party I would go back in time and create if I could (with the same husband, of course)!

  1. Betsy: The 1st picture reminds me of your wonderful rehearsal dinner. It was such fun helping to set the table and lighting ALL of the candles. I am so glad I got to be a part of it.

  2. Oh, I know, this wedding is so fantastic. It would definitely be on my short list of inspiration if I were to do it all over again (with the same husband, too!). By the way, I just adore your calligraphy. You have been blessed with such talent.

  3. You got the words out just perfectly. This is basically what I imagined you were saying. Let's do this for your 5th anniversary! I'll make SmittenKitchen's wedding cake. Yum!

  6. Aaaaah. In this case a picture says more like a million words. Is there a woman who wouldn't want to do it all over again, if only to have an experience of another kind? However, I do love Marianne's idea about a 5th anniversary party. Given the astronomic divorce rate maybe we should all save our money for 25 year anniversary parties?! You can do the invites for mine!

  7. perfect. it reflects for me a return to simple but with much heartfelt meaning. Just one suggestion for yours, Betsy. The triangular flags that are hanging? they should be lettered by you with single words or phrases, or words from your wedding vows.

You're right...this is absolutely beautiful...I love the cake. I'm still glad we didn't have a wedding, though. I don't handle stress well and wouldn't want to spend the money...I'm weird I guess.
